After filling the water reservoir and adding ground coffee to the filter, be sure the reservoir, filter, and brew basket are securely in place. Place the appropriate-sized vessel under the brew basket. Press DELAY BREW. DELAY BREW will illuminate and the clock will flash “12:00” or the last Delay Brew time that was set.
While the clock is flashing, press the hour (H) or minute (M) button to set the Delay Brew start time. The AM or PM indicator will illuminate on the left side of the display as you are setting your desired time. Once the proper time has been set, select your brew size and style. The selected brew size and style will remain illuminated.
Once the time, brew size, and brew style have been set, allow DELAY BREW to stop flashing, or press DELAY BREW to activate. When activated, the unit will beep and DELAY BREW and your selected options will remain illuminated. To cancel, press DELAY BREW again.
NOTE: If you attempt to change your selections while Delay Brew is set, the unit will beep and DELAY BREW will flash. To change your selections, cancel the Delay Brew and start the programming process again.
NOTE: If the clock stops flashing and does not display the correct time, pressing the hour (H) or minute (M) button at any time will cause the clock to flash again. You can now reprogram the correct time by following the previous steps.
NOTE: When frothing during brewing, DO NOT reach across top of the brewer. Steam is released during the brewing processs and can result in a steam burn.
We recommend that you either hand-wash the whisk or place it on the top rack of your dishwasher. We DO NOT recommend filling your cup with soapy water and immersing the frother in it while the frother is still attached to the coffee maker.
Quickly press the hour (H) or minute (M) button to increase the time up to 4 hours or to decrease it to 0 hours. Press STAY WARM to set the new time. Or wait 5 seconds, and the unit will beep, signifying the new time has been set.
Next, the clock will display the current warming plate temperature. To keep the same temperature, press STAY WARM, or wait 5 seconds for the same temperature to lock in. To change the temperature, press the hour (H) or (M) button. Press STAY WARM, or wait 5 seconds for the temperature to lock in.
The HOT SURFACE light is a safety feature that illuminates when the warming plate is hot. If you leave your brewing vessel on the Intelligent Warming Plate for an extended period, the HOT SURFACE indicator may illuminate, even if the Stay Warm function has not been initiated. The HOT SURFACE light will remain on until the warming plate has reached a temperature that's safe to touch. DO NOT touch the surface when this light is illuminated.
DO NOT touch the surface when this light is illuminated.
Fill the water reservoir up to, but not exceeding, the Max Fill line. Place the empty filter holder in the brew basket, and an empty vessel under the brew basket. Press and hold both CLASSIC and OVER ICE until clock displays CAL. A calibration cycle will begin. When complete, the unit will beep and "End" will appear on the clock display. Discard the water in the vessel.
NOTE: Pressing the CLASSIC, OVER ICE, or Power button will cancel the calibration cycle.
Using both the permanent filter and a paper filter together can cause grounds to clog, and water to back up in the filter holder. Use only the permanent filter, or a paper filter.
Using too much ground coffee can cause the brew basket to overflow or leak.
The brew basket may not be fully closed. To ensure the brew basket is fully closed, push it in until you feel a "click" or "bump."
If the brew basket is dripping after the brew is complete, move the to the closed position (denoted by the image of a water droplet with a slash through it) before removing your brewing vessel to avoid drips.
Check to see if there is a circular rubber gasket on the inside of the filter holder. If it is missing, that would cause the brew basket to leak. A new filter holder is needed.
